Senate Bill 197 Could Affect Ohio's Schools
Senate Bill 197, introduced by Sen. Sandra Williams of Cleveland, would allow a person to file charges against bullying.
The bill would allow an individual to file charges based on a person making them "believe that the offender will cause serious emotional harm to the other person or serious physical harm to the person or property of the other person."
Senator Williams says that bill will give offenders opportunities to change their behavior and includes warnings, peer mediation, and counseling. As the law already addresses physical assault, this is not included in the bill.
